so i want to say thank you for everyone who thought of me this day. yes, i know its oprah’s birthday as well. but dont let that over-shadow mine. 26 now and it doesnt feel very different from 25. i like getting older. its like running a marathon. you get closer to your goal, at least i hope i’m getting closer. closer to the millions i’ll be making.

i’ve been giving my resume to anyone who’ll take it, even if they just need a piece of scratch paper. it’s tough and frustrating looking for jobs. i have leads, but have no idea about there tangibility. i just cross my fingers.

the image above represents very well where i’m at in my life. there are signs and i think i’m going the right way, but i can’t be totally sure. i close one chapter, just to feel that i’m starting the same chapter in my life again. or at least the beginning paragraph seems very familiar. the one that says, ‘hey everyone, new chapter, dont know where i’m headed, but lets hope it turns out well!”

I had my first photo class today at a community college. this was where i took my first photo class and got hooked. i know the professor well and was able to see him today. i’m trying to get contacts and a community of peers whereby i can talk intellectually about photography and current events. its hard here since i dont have many friends left in southern california and the ones left are busy w/ their careers. i am still lacking financial leads and so will be trying to subsidize my personal work through teaching. hopefully, i can get a teaching job at one of the local junior colleges.

I’ve started to develop my next project. I have been playing w/ the polaroid SX-70 that anne gave me. it has been a complete joy to work with.   but, i’m still trying to get the hang of it.  it’s fairly simple, but can be tricky w/ exposure settings.  i love the colors of it though. i’m trying to develop my eye for color, either in camera or through playing w/ photoshop.  i wanted to explore a story that uses color since my last work was black & white.  i dont want it to be just about color though, i want the color of the image to help me tell the story.  that is obviously the hard part, and i am stilling trying to progress and reinforce that idea.

as well, i’m still researching the local digital studios. i, however, have to amend and revise my CV. it is pretty much a list of random jobs from being a line cook to being a football coach. so i should probably focus now on my professional photography experience, ie. lie, fib, fabricate.

Merry New Years Everyone! I’m up in san Francisco right now taking a little break from doing nothing down south. Actually, had to come up here to pick up a car. And i’m gonna try to do some street photography here as well, to see how my style changes. I’m also trying to catch up w/ all my old friends that are living up here as well since i havent seen many of them for a while. Once i get down south again, i’ll put my nose to the grindstone to get a job. we’ll see how it goes.
